Information about Head Lice
Lice is a topic that creates plenty of questions and lots of concern for many parents. Please keep in mind that while lice is an annoyance, it does not cause any illness. Home remedies and "natural" products have not been proven to be effective. The FDA recommends using approved products according to your pediatrician's advice.
- Transmission is mainly from direct head-to-head contact, but can also be transmitted through the sharing of hats, brushes, and other personal items.
- Head lice are often a problem in many communities and do not reflect poor hygiene.
- If you suspect your child has head lice, please follow your pediatrician's advice and notify the school health office.
